Figuring History

Branding & Creative Direction

Figuring History: Robert Colescott, Kerry James Marshall, Mickalene Thomas (February 15 – May 15, 2018) was an exhibition that brought together three generations of prominent contemporary American artists whose work challenged a Western painting tradition that underrepresents people of color. For this campaign, I provided the creative direction and handled the production of the most prominent collateral, including cafe posters, building graphics, and print and web ads. I also created an exhibition teaser video (which I LOVED creataing) featuring the music of Shabazz Palaces. The goal of the video was to tell the story of the exhibition through the artists' own words and set the tone of the work.
